Told this everytime after each CO visit for the last 5 years.
I told the COBE; "So I qualify to do the Accounts for the last 3 years( because none of our 6 MS or 7 Elders want to do it) because the CO says more time is needed."
Give me a break!
you think it's the holy spirit that appoints the elders, at least that's what new jw males are told.
the culture within the organization dictates to all young male jehovah's witnesses that unless you are an elder, you will not get the sultry, passionate- brunette, the voluptuous, curvaceous,- blond, or the seductive, erotic, red headed-vamp..
so unaware of the social forces that are shaping your mind, you succumb to the dictum issued by the governing body to conform to the structure already in place- if you want to be successful.

when it finally clicked,.
and you realized there was no 1914, there was no generation that would see the end of a wicked system, there was no paradise around the corner, .
what went through you mind?.
I read this entire thread, because I am going through all these same emotions!
Though still in and pretty active, I just go through the motions and go into my own dream world while at the meetings. I tell my wife that I want to feel accountable to a Creator, so that I have some restraints.
With that said, We have planned several camping trips, going to see Stone Temple Pilots in Concert, going to indulge in mass quantities of Alcohol, and perhaps some mind altering herbs! Live Life and Enjoy whatever time is left!
My wife reminded me that when "we die, we have paid for our sins."

I know about 1/3 of these men. Leon Weaver is black. Grizzle used to organize the Convention Committee; he is at 90 years old and is now Overseeing the Elderly Bethelites.
Harold Corkern, Walls and Wallen are pretty good and sincere men, didn't care much for Noumiar or Weaver
to my generation: jehovah's witnesses of the vietnam war era .
if you were a young brother in the late 60's you then remember the burden of the draft and the prospect of going to jail for refusing on religious grounds to be called up.
in those days we were taught that to do community service was conscientiously the same as joining the military and so we were told to refuse such exemptions.
My life pretty much mirrors yours, except I was baptized in 1981.
Wow , you have set a date, I am about there too!!!
as of this june (i've already given my may contributions which are substantial) i am no longer giving money to support useless building projects that serve no good purpose.
i am no longer giving money at conventions or assemblies.
i am no longer giving money toward the circuit overseers upkeep.
they are talking on jwtalk about this, but no details.
has anyone access to jw library ?
just curious... :-)
with all the negativity here i was wondering if i am the only one here that's a witness.
.
the topic pretty much says everything..

you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!
what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.
thw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.
